After years of lockdowns, Amazing Race Australia is finally going international again – but there’s an even bigger twist coming this season.

Amazing Race Australia may finally stretch its wings once more this season after years of Covid lockdowns, as the competition is played overseas for the first time since 2019.

However, this year’s major advancement is not that. Two entirely different teams of groups start the race, one from Melbourne and the other from Sydney, marking a first for the sport.

Both teams are unaware of one another, so they will be in for a pleasant surprise when the remaining competitors arrive in Morocco and meet up for the race’s second leg.

The adventure reality series, which is hosted by Beau Ryan, will travel across six continents this season with a sizable contingent of 20 teams of two competitors.

In addition, the victor will get $250,000 and two brand-new Isuzu vehicles (an MU-X and a D-MAX).

Angel and Frankie, two church friends from Queensland, Bren and Anja, animal activists and “vegan warriors” from Western Australia, Fliss and Tottie, two country girls from New South Wales, Jake and Holly, a model couple, and Pako and Mori, husbands from New South Wales, are among this year’s diverse group of teams.

But as anyone who has recently traveled abroad will attest, getting around while the world is still dealing with Covid is not simple, and this season’s participants face a special set of difficulties as they become used to life outside of lockdowns.
