There will likely be some conspicuous absences from Tane Parata and Felicity Newman’s wedding, as hinted at by Home and Away.

The long-running soap opera celebrates its historic 8,000th episode next week, and the happy couple is scheduled to get married on Australian television.

Tane and Felicity have already tried getting married once, but things went horribly wrong when Felicity was involved in a car accident on the way to the wedding.

Characters Chloe Anderson and Gemma Parata, who had both left the show, emailed their regrets at the time and stated that they would be unable to travel from New Zealand.

Only Cash, Felicity’s brother, and Eden Fowler, her best friend, were invited so they could serve as official witnesses.

Tane heard Felicity say, “Our simple’show up and get it done’ wedding is all sorted. This is incredible. We don’t have to wait, which is wonderful. Please don’t worry about your outfits, flowers, invites, or guests—especially guests.”

There are no other attendees, Felicity joked when Cash and Eden enquired later. You wouldn’t even be there if you weren’t needed as witnesses.

Tane’s nephew Nikau has also now left the show at Australian pace, moving to New York to be with Bella Nixon.

Nikau played a role in the ceremony from afar by giving Felicity some last-minute advice on the phone over how to recite her wedding vows in te reo Māori.
