Wednesday night’s episode was full of surprises.

On Wednesday night’s episode of Home and Away, a tremendous explosion utterly rocked Summer Bay and sent a beloved character to the hospital, shocking viewers.

When the bomb in Marilyn’s (Emily Symons) strange box finally burst, Roo (Georgie Parker) and John (Shane Withington) were in the car together. Mali (Kyle Shilling), who tried to stop them, was also caught in the crossfire.

“I really hope she doesn’t die,” another added, followed by a third who said, “I’m not manifesting this negative energy”.

“If you look up Georgie Parker’s Instagram, it normally says ‘Playing Roo on Home and Away’ and that part has disappeared from her bio. So who knows,” a different user replied.

What will happen to Roo?

Although Roo’s future has not yet been determined, Georgie Parker revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle in March that she would be leaving the soap series for a short while in order to play the lead role in the David Williamson play Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica.

“I’m lucky that with Home and Away or any other TV productions I’ve been involved with, I’ve been very fortunate that I kind of put it out there — if it’s going to be long term, that I need time out for plays,” she said.

Channel Seven has always been quite accommodating in allowing me to do that and request [time off]. I simply have it included in my contract.

The actress explained that because the show “revolve[s] around the younger cast members,” it is simple to write her character out.

I’m fortunate in that regard, she added, noting that taking a sabbatical won’t cause any narratives to split in half.

With Home and Away filming approximately five months in advance, viewers can expect Georgie’s character to disappear over the next few weeks. This means it’s a strong possibility that Roo might be leaving Summer Bay to attend rehab following the explosion, but will return shortly after.
