‘Home and Away’ star Lynne McGranger reflects on ‘surreal’ career first

Having played Irene Roberts on the well-known television serial opera Home and Away for an astounding thirty years, renowned Australian actress Lynne McGranger has got her first-ever Logie nomination.

Fans and colleagues in the business are ecstatic and supportive of McGranger’s acceptance by the esteemed Australian television awards.

The 70-year-old actress responded to the announcement by expressing her thanks and shock at being recognized for the first time as a TV WEEK Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress after such a long time of commitment to her adored role.

Following the nomination, she admitted to 7Life, “I still feel like it’s not true.

“It’s very surreal, I can’t explain it.

“It’s just like why after 31 years I’m suddenly nominated?”

“It’s like they’ve gone, ‘Let’s nominate all the old people on the show this year… What a good idea,” she joked.

“Let’s not give it to anyone under the age of 45,’ which is kind of good.

“It’s sort of like old power and it is very exciting.”
