A former Coronation Street cast member narrowly avoided jail time after he pleaded guilty to careless driving that resulted in serious injuries for two young girls.

Louis Emerick Grant, who played Mike Thornberry, the former teacher of Steve and Andy McDonald, was well-known for this performance in 2018.

He was accused of hurting two 12-year-old girls who were attempting to cross the road as a result of his careless driving.

The two adolescents were struck by the 64-year-old former soap actor on October 2 of last year as he was out driving through Wallasey, Wirral, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The two girls were reportedly crossing the street at the time of the collision in order to reach the store on the other side.

According to The Mirror, Louis’ car was then spotted cutting the curve of the right-hand bend before striking the girls.

The article went on to say that one girl had a shattered leg, and the other had a fractured leg, ankle, broken nose, and chipped teeth.

They both spent a lot of time in Alder Hey hospital, where they will both still need additional surgery and miss a lot of school.

The singer was never seen to slow down and claimed his prescription glasses responded to the light, despite the fact that he claimed to have looked and missed the girls since the sun was shining directly into his car.

Since then, he has expressed regret for being at fault for the tragedy and has cooperated extensively with investigators.

He was breathalyzed on the spot, and the results indicated that there was no sign of alcohol, drugs, or cellphone use while driving in his system.

According to reports, CPS Mersey Cheshire District Crown Prosecutor Linda Melia said: “This was a very upsetting incident, and the two girls sustained serious injuries as a result of what happened that day.”

A. Louis Emerick Grant acknowledged that he wasn’t driving too fast but claimed he should have slowed down because the sun was making it difficult for him to see. The car’s sun visor was not down.

He has often apologized and has been completely cooperative and repentant throughout the process. He has apologized to both families and has been in touch with them.
