Summer has had a pretty difficult year, as many viewers of The Young and the Restless are already aware of. She had to deal with her mother’s alleged murder before learning that Phyllis Summers had faked her death and set Diane Jenkins up as the murderer. Well, it certainly didn’t go in her favor, and now that she’s been found guilty of killing Jeremy Stark, Phyllis will likely spend some time in jail. And if that weren’t enough, Summer’s husband Kyle Abbott ended their union when he realized she was keeping it a secret from him. In addition, he had a secret relationship with Audra Charles. That may have been one of the factors influencing Summer’s decision to ride the rollercoaster.
Fans of The Young and the Restless had a LOT to say about this scene, as is obvious from the sheer number of them. They posted on social media, some of them saying things like, “I mean…I really wanted to watch this program again since I gave up #boldandbeautiful but they have REALLY made it impossible. That made noooo sense, and they evidently despise the audience as well. Every day, these soap operas get worse. She was doing something healthy to cheer herself happy, which I admire, but it just seems so odd.
