Kyle Shilling’s character Mali Hudson, a new hunk in the seaside community of Summer Bay, has joined Home and Away.
At the beginning of this year, Kyle, a 28-year-old Australian, joined the Australian TV program as Dean Thompson’s friend and surfer Mali.
His character has already taken over the neighborhood surf store, delighting viewers with his arrival to the long-running TV series and having already been at the center of significant plotlines.
Let’s get to know the newest member of Home and Away…
On stage stardom
The 28 year old actor hails from the Widjabul clan of the Bundjalung Nation in Australia, he grew up in both Taree and Pottsville.
Kyle has led a hugely successful career as a dancer having graduated with a Diploma in Professional Dance Performance at the National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association.
The Man with the Iron Neck (Legs on the Wall), a critically acclaimed theatre production that featured a variety of moves while being flown through the air, was the production in which he made his professional dance debut as the lead actor. He later toured the country of Australia in this production.
A live performance based on tennis superstar Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Sunshine Super Girl (Performing Lines), featured the gifted actor as well.
His most recent performance was in The Ensemble Theatre’s Black Cockatoo.
Before making his acting debut on Home and Away earlier this year, Kyle had an appearance in the 2017 short film Hoax.
Hip hop artist
Aside from an impressive background in dance and acting he’s also a talented hip hop artist, known by the name of BLACX.
Kyle has released a number of his own songs including Brown Eyes, Do My Dance and Gimme.
Off screen
The gifted actor frequently posts pictures of himself hanging out with friends or flashing his gorgeous smile on Instagram. In May of this year, he dedicated a post to a friend he met “during a dark part” of his life.
He gushed when posting a picture of the couple posing on a boat: Efficient thanks post
As cheesy as it sounds, this guy I met during a low time in my life helped bring the light back. I never imagined that after that day, which was almost 8 years ago, we would be the best of friends. especially considering how we came to know one another.
When I most needed a job, he gave it to me. He almost always reprimanded me, saying, “You shouldn’t be doing this for work.” He always recognized my potential and genuinely cared about my success. He always stood by me and had my back.
He also clearly values family, as evidenced by the adorable photo he posted of his newborn niece and other relatives.
Kyle announced the news that he would be joining the cast of Home and Away in December last year.
Alongside a snap of him posing with a surfboard, he wrote the caption: “It’s official ladies and gentlemen. Stoked to be apart of the amazing family/team of @homeandaway it’s been nothing but an absolute privilege to work with everyone involved. Can’t wait for you all to see the story of “Mali Hudson”
“BIG THANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTINUED TO SUPPORT ME”.
