Dame Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn Plummer, arrived at the National Television Awards red carpet alone this evening despite expressing a desire to make her new “gentleman friend” public.
On the NTAs red carpet in 2023, Maureen Lipman, a fan favorite from Coronation Street, looked lovely in pink. However, some fans were hoping to see the soap star with her new beau.
Instead, Maureen, who plays Evelyn Plummer in Corrie, appeared to go solo while representing the show.
The 77-year-old actress stunned in a vibrant pink jacket with a waterfall hem.
She matched the top and cropped black pants to make a stylish statement.
Pearls and a gorgeous cosmetics palette finished off Maureen’s ensemble, which she accessorized with a black clutch bag and heels.
It happens after Dame Maureen told the Sunday Express that her “gentleman friend David” will accompany her to the celebrity-studded event.
“I’m going with my gentleman friend David; it’s a baptism of fire for him,” the stage and film icon added.
The most crucial factor is that I locate a dress.
Finding love again, she added, is a gift for everyone involved. He’s been quite kind, and it’s a gift.
We’ll see where it goes, but I’ve met some wonderful folks and some pretty unusual men in my life.
Up until his passing in 2004, the playwright Jack Rosenthal was the star’s husband.
After then, the actress dated computer engineer Guido Castro for 13 years; he passed away in 2021.
The TV star previously revealed that Guido tragically passed away at the height of the pandemic, so she was unable to touch his hand at his bedside because she needed to wear full PPE.
In addition, Dame Maureen acknowledged she intended to use her acting abilities to put on a “brave face” if she didn’t win the award at the NTAs.
The actress’s portrayal as Evelyn Plummer in the ITV soap opera earned her a nomination for outstanding serial drama performance.
