Fans of Coronation Street are eager to point out when a plot line doesn’t quite make sense, and a recent one left several perplexed.
Finally, Coronation Street rectified a fan-perceived inconsistency about newcomer Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) teeth.
As the drug-addicted mother of Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Hasall), Cassie has gained notoriety on the streets.
Although Cassie appears disheveled, viewers have been distracted by her white teeth because they think the appearance doesn’t fit the character.
Though it seemed to please viewers, a recent episode of the ITV soap provided a “clever” explanation for the narrative hole.
Cassie spoke up as Tyrone was discussing oral hygiene with his daughter.
She said that having flawless teeth had cost her money.
Hope Stape (Isabelle Flanagan), whom Tyrone was admonishing to brush her teeth thoroughly, responded with Cassie’s concurring comment: “Look after them; I don’t want you forking out like I’ve had to over the years.” I spent a fortune on these.
Viewers who had previously called attention to the plot hole weren’t surprised to see the admission.
Many people commented on the “clever” moment on social media. One person wrote on Twitter: “Haha they’ve actually addressed why Cassie has such white teeth.”
An additional person wrote: “A clever nod to Claire Sweeney’s perfect teeth there,” while @teenamassam added: “Cassie mentioning her perfect teeth…”

After everyone questioned why Cassie has such lovely gnashers for a drug user, another person said, “There’s an explanation there for why she has such nice gnashers for a drug addict.”
Another twist in the soap opera later on involved Cassie breaking a promise to Tyrone.
To help her get a birthday gift for his second daughter Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor), her son agreed to lend her some money.
“I’ve been clean for two months now,” she assured Tyrone. I won’t disappoint you.
She later met with her dealer, but after taking too much, she passed out.
