Not very long ago, Tony Audenshaw’s character Bob Hope on Emmerdale suffered a heart attack. After a fight with Liam (Jonny McPherson) in the street, Bob started to lose consciousness. If Liam hadn’t acted quickly to use the adjacent defibrillator, Bob might not have survived.

Although he is now recovering well, he really needs to take it easy and lead a calm life while he heals from surgery. However, leading a quiet life is more difficult when your daughter is Cathy, a troubled adolescent played by Gabrielle Dowling.

Cathy had just returned from a visit with her brother in the Lake District and was plainly worried about her father’s wellbeing. Naturally, she has her own health issues and is once more having trouble, which almost has terrible consequences for poor Bob.

After battling mood swings, painful periods, and other symptoms for months, Cathy was eventually given the hormonal disease PMDD. She was disappointed to learn that before receiving any additional support at school, a formal diagnosis from a specialist was required.

In next episodes, this formal diagnosis will be given. Although having her ailment confirmed brings some relief, Cathy is disappointed that the only medical assistance offered is to help her manage the symptoms. She has already been informed that there is no remedy.

In a fit of wrath, Cathy throws a garden ornament through the B&B’s window, nearly missing Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker), as a result of her anger and aggravation at hearing this news. This incident marks the beginning of another violent phase for Cathy.

Susan Cookson’s character Wendy tries to step in, but Cathy knocks her to the ground. When Bob realizes he must act, he feels a pain in his chest and worries that he is about to suffer another heart attack.

Cathy is momentarily stopped in her stride by the sight of her father in pain and struggle while Manpreet rushes to his side to examine him. She holds herself responsible for what occurred, but Wendy, who yells at her to leave, also holds herself accountable.

Cathy rushes out while bleeding from a cut on her hand, unsure of whether or how seriously her actions may have harmed her father’s health.
