Before she passed away, Lola Pearce’s friends Jay Brown and Ben Mitchell of EastEnders promised her that they would collaborate to ensure Lexi Pearce had the finest possible start in life.
Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) of EastEnders express their worries when Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) comes back for her grandchild.
Jay had to struggle with his anxiety, rage, and grief following the loss of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) in order to help Lola Pearce (Isabella Brown).
He recently started co-parenting with Ben, who accompanied him to sign the paperwork and become one of Lexi’s guardians.
When Emma returns to Walford and struggles to be given access to Lexi, they are about to have their first setback.
Jay worries about Lexi’s phone usage and her recent coyness in upcoming scenes.
She had been messaging her grandma Emma, who had moved back to Walford, he later learns.
She confronts Jay and admits that they have been communicating via text for several weeks and that she is concerned for her following Lola’s passing.
Angered by her disclosure, Jay kicks her out, but Callum Highway (Tony Clay) begs him to hear her out for Lexi’s sake, leaving Emma to set up another meeting for the following day.
Ben, Lexi’s biological father, is also enraged by her homecoming and forbids Emma from visiting her granddaughter.
Later, knowing how much Lexu loves her grandma, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) implores Jay to consider Lexu’s sentiments before his own.
Later, when Emma shows him the distressed messages Lexi has been sending her, he is devastated and pushed even further.
Emma responds that Lexi doesn’t want to upset her dads any further when asked why she hadn’t discussed it with Jay, Callum, or Ben.
Jay offers to talk to Ben about letting Emma visit Lexi after their difficult chat, but Jay is hesitant to maintain their relationship.
Emma quickly makes a commitment to never leave Lexi again, but Ben quickly dashes her hopes.
Will Ben be able to convince Emma to leave Lexi and Walford once more? Will she be able to demonstrate that her only concern is for Lexi’s welfare?
