Chris Gascoyne, who has starred in Coronation Street for 23 years, will be leaving his role as Peter Barlow soon.
Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow on Coronation Street, has received a harsh warning about his outside job if he ever wants to return.
Chris has had some significant storylines since making his soap opera debut in 2000, which included an alcohol problem and numerous affairs.
Chris said his final goodbyes to Weatherfield and would be taking a lengthy sabbatical back in July.
Now, he has received a severe warning to be cautious about the employment he takes on outside of the ITV soap, since doing so could jeopardize his chance of returning in the future.
In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo, said: “Unlike more youth-oriented soaps like Hollyoaks, which have a fan base that closely follows the cast on social media, Coronation Street attracts an older population.
This means that despite his experience, Gascoyne must be careful with his next steps if he wants to further his career and remain relevant in the field.
Additionally, he said that it wasn’t “unusual” to see soap stars return to their operas if their leaving didn’t go as planned or for them to go and try something new.
“Chris Gascoyne has said this will be an extended break,” the source continued, “so he will need to be smart about the path he takes if he wants to find long-term success outside of Coronation Street.”
Chris has chosen to take a significant sabbatical from the soap opera, a TV insider said to The Sun when his departure was made public.
The moment is ideal for him to take a break and pursue other jobs, even though he loves his job on Coronation Street. He has a lot of things he wants to do.
It’s not a final farewell, and the door is still very much open.
Although the manner in which Peter departs the cobbles has not yet been revealed, it may be connected to Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) failure as his suspicions mount.
The three murders Stephen has committed since returning to Weatherfield are about to come to light.
After Stephen criticized Peter for admitting to selling Rufus Donhaue’s (Steve Meo) watch, Peter grew suspicious and warned Carla to keep an eye on Stephen.
Will Peter run away to avoid being punished for a crime he didn’t commit? Or will he collaborate with the cops to end Stephen’s life for good?
