After only two and a half years on the BBC One soap opera, EastEnders actor Brian Conley has announced his retirement.

Brian Conley, who portrays Rocky Cotton on EastEnders, has dispelled recent rumors that his exit from the drama was the result of a bitter “feud” with BBC executives.

It appears as though he’s just not enjoying being on EastEnders anymore, an insider said to The Sun yesterday. Everything has come to a head, and at the National TV Awards last week, he was rather upfront about his exit with friends and co-stars.

They will have to alter their storyline plans to accommodate his swift escape since, whatever has gotten him worked up, it feels like he can’t get out of there fast enough.

It was also suggested that Rocky, rather than the targeted resident, would suddenly be the body under the Christmas tree in the major murder plot.

Brian has addressed the rumors since the news of his leaving broke, saying it was a “tough decision” to go.

“Hello lovely people, it’s me Brian Conley aka Rocky, sending out this message, especially to all the EastEnders fans,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

You may have heard rumors that I am quitting EastEnders, and while it was a difficult choice, I did so for a variety of reasons.

“I loved my three years there, although it is difficult because there is such a lovely throng in front of and behind the camera. Regarding the veracity of the claims, while there are portions that claim I had a confrontation with TV executives and the crew, I didn’t do either.

They’ll undoubtedly claim that I’ve had a rant about ranting, but I’m not ranting, he continued.

“I left the Beeb with their approval, and I’m eager to see where the future takes us.

I’m happy for Rocky to be leaving since I know it’s for the best. All EastEnders fans, I send my love. Enough said.

We can confirm that Brian Conley will be leaving EastEnders, according to a statement from the BBC. Any allegations of a conflict with the management are completely unfounded, and the show fully supports Brian’s choice to depart, which was made some time ago.

As we continue to develop his exit storyline, which has been in the works for some time, we wish him the best of luck in the future.
