Liesl Obrecht of GENERAL HOSPITAL dumped Scotty and gave Willow her bone marrow a number of months ago. and vanished! However, it appears that Kathleen Gati, who plays our favorite doctor, will soon return to the screen!
The social media savvy actress frequently engages with her fans on X, and there she recently hinted that a return to Port Charles might be on the horizon! The casting information was first shared by a GH fan on September 12 when they shared Dictionary.com’s definition of the German word schadenfreude as “satisfaction or pleasure felt at someone else’s misfortune.” Fans of GH learned the term “from our beloved Dr. O.,” as the soap opera viewer remarked. Kathleen Gati must appear on screen soon! She is missed.
Gati responded after being tagged in the comment, calling schadenfreude a “wonderful word” and thanking her supporters for missing her. She concluded, “Stay tuned!” You never know when Liesl Obrecht might appear on General Hospital.
That remark was somewhat typical of a character who frequently appears on a soap opera as required by the plot. However, something Gati wrote two days later turned out to be significantly more fascinating. This time, when the actress was asked whether fans could anticipate seeing her soon by another follower, Gati’s response appeared to carry a little more weight. She retorted, adding a tongue-out winking emoji, “It’s a very good possibility!”
Obrecht played a significant role in the soap opera’s Greenland plot this past spring when Victor kidnapped the doctor and made him work on the antidote to the lethal pathogen he intended to release. One of the main goals of Curtis, Drew, and Laura’s rescue operation was to save Nina’s Aunt Liesl, along with Spencer, Trina, and baby Ace, because Obrecht was abducted from the Nurses Ball the night before she was scheduled to donate her bone marrow to great-niece Willow.
On social media, viewers of the soap frequently let Gati know how much they miss her and inquire about her future appearances.
The actress previously acknowledged in June that she had “no idea if and when I will be back on canvas,” adding that “life is full of surprises!”
There’s absolutely no schadenfreude in her absence, so we’re hoping that Gati’s response indicates that Nina, Willow, and Liesl will soon be reunited!
