After his wife Lola’s untimely death earlier this year, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) has been grieving, but recent EastEnders scenes show him finding solace in a new companion.
Jazzy Phoenix’s Nadine, a newbie who reminded Jay of his late wife, immediately opened up a discussion with Jay, and the two got along like house on fire.
In the episode airing tonight, September 19, Jay and Nadine reconnected and made plans to go out for a few drinks, where their friendship became stronger.
Jay remarked that it didn’t feel like the night was done when he was a little inebriated, and soon Nadine had invited him back to her home.
There, Nadine decided against the nightcaps and instead leaned in for a kiss with Jay after realizing how inebriated he truly was.
The bereaved Jay made it plain that he didn’t want to go there and that it was probably best for him to leave before realizing he couldn’t allow his family to see him in such a state.
At that point, Nadine offered him a place to stay for the night and assured him there would be “no funny business” in addition to lowering the rate she usually charged.
Jay discovered yesterday that Nadine works as an escort, which means she is compensated for her time spent with men.
She explained that the position was merely a temporary one that let her pay off her college loan and live independently.
Jay made the decision to accept her offer, and soon the two were dozing off on the bed with Jay perched atop the blankets.
However, at some point during the evening, Jay and Nadine found themselves huddled together, his arm over her.
Are they developing romantic feelings for one another, or is Jay just sad about Lola’s passing?
