Daytime Emmy winner Kate Mansi won hearts over at Days of our Lives as Abigail Deveraux long before she adorned the corridors of General Hospital as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. On the very special video podcast of State Of Mind honoring World Mental Health Day, Maurice Benard sat down with the newest member of his GH family. Both actors have knowledge of this subject.
Kate Mansi: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
In May of this year, Lexi Ainsworth made her departure from General Hospital official. The role of Kristina Corinthos-Davis, the off-screen daughter of mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), was played by fan favorite actress Ainsworth. Since her first scenes with the cast began airing the week of May 22, Kate Mansi has won over fans and fellow cast members with her positive outlook and natural chemistry.
They had an unspoken understanding because Mansi describes herself as an open book and informed her co-star early on that her father also had bipolar disorder. She talked to Benard about how she got into acting, how she landed her dream job at Days of our Lives after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend the previous evening, how she discovered she had a connection to her on-screen mother, Melissa Reeves, and how she went on to win a Daytime Emmy in 2017 for her performance as Abigail.
She experienced severe depression and anxiety her entire life, went through a divorce during the Covid crisis, and was left broken, so her life off-camera didn’t always live up to the dream.
