General Hospital spoilers and updates for Friday, October 20 tease disheartening returns, disappointing reunions and devastating theories.
Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) faces a disheartening return to Pentonville, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) may be in for a disappointing reunion, and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) shares a devastating truth.
General Hospital Spoilers: Disheartening Returns
When Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) learns that Drew has been sent back to Pentonville, she will be disappointed. Drew’s hospital room has been entered by a guard who has informed him that he is there to take him, as Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Hearst) watches on.
In an interview that turned into an interrogation, Alexis and Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) attempted to influence Judge Albert Kim (Kurt Yue) using the media’s influence.
The goal of Alexis and Carly Spencer’s strategy was to persuade the judge to commute Drew’s sentence or, failing that, to exert pressure on the judge’s superiors. Before Drew was sent back to prison, it was hoped that the case would be heard again by a different judge.
GH Spoilers: Frustrating Unintended Outcomes
While speaking to Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who tells him he does the right thing with the wrong result, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is irritated.
Dante actually made the right decision when he shot Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) in the back, saving two lives in the process. Ava Jerome (Maura West), who was handcuffed and screaming, and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), who was on the ground with Mason, were both present when he reached the cliff’s edge.
Dex managed to escape from Mason after hearing Dante tell him to freeze, but Mason now had Dante in his crosshairs. Dante shot him when he attempted to push Dex away once more, and he is now on administrative leave.

General Hospital Spoilers: Parenting Questioned?
At GH, Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), who is holding Ace Prince-Cassadine (Joey and Jay Clay), is unexpectedly questioned about her parenting abilities.
She is supported by her uncle Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) as she explains to the unwanted intruder that she is more than capable of raising her own son. It was a bit argumentative when Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) told Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) that he wasn’t leaving his young brother behind.
Trina had forewarned that Ace and Esme would eventually be left alone and that he would have no control over the situation. Maybe he has taken action and called some people about it.
GH Spoilers: Disappointing Reunions?
In another scene, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) will have a heart-to-heart discussion about the state of their potential romantic relationship.
But Robert might have a disappointing reunion because he laughs and doesn’t take his request to pick up where they left off seriously at all. Every time Diane thought Robert was seriously interested, he would have a problem involving an ex-wife to resolve. Robert seems to enjoy flirting with her and making more promises.
Diane doesn’t like him hanging out with his ex-wives, and she found it offensive when he made Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) a digital photo frame out of old pictures. She lost everything at that time when her house caught fire.
General Hospital Spoilers: Laura Collins Tries To Get Through
In a different scene, in response to Valentin’s cries for assistance, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) tries to communicate with Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez). Laura understood that Charlotte had been too much under Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) control in the past, and that he had most likely used that control to sway and manipulate her.
Laura probes Charlotte, asking her if she worries about her father Victor, who had written Charlotte to warn her about Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
It is unknown if she still has the letter he sent her along with the tarot cards or if it was discarded. Laura and Valentin, however, concurred that Victor might be employing Charlotte to exact revenge on Anna—possibly even through post-hypnotic suggestions.
GH Spoilers: Devastating Truths
In another conversation, Valentin is telling Anna some horrifying truths as she questions his theory that the hotel suite fire and subsequent arson were acts of retaliation.
Valentin will have to be completely honest about Charlotte and probably feel bad about himself for not being able to recognize it. If anyone could, Anna would recognize the link between tarot cards and post-hypnotic suggestions, as well as the likelihood that Charlotte was lying about the origin of the tarot cards.
Valentin will find it challenging, but he must reveal the reality—even if it is more of a theory—that Victor is using Charlotte to exact retribution on Anna.
General Hospital Spoilers: Spencer Cassadine Acts Confused
When Spencer asks what the hell that was about, he displays confusion and perhaps even some defensiveness. Esme and Kevin may have had a difficult conversation about Esme not being able to care for Ace while he was in the hospital. If he is responsible, he is displaying his inherent Cassadine duplicity.
He might have realized that in order to obtain sole custody of Ace while his father is still alive, he needs to step up his efforts. He’s not sure what this was about yet though.
