Mark Furze played Home And Away’s bad boy, Ric Dalby – but nearly 20 years since the actor made his soap debut in Summer Bay, he looks completely different and has a new job too

Mark Furze, best known as Eric “Ric” Dalby from Home and Away, has changed drastically in appearance fifteen years after departing the well-liked Australian soap opera.

The 37-year-old actor has now quit acting to focus on his music and started a rock group named Falcon Road.

When Ric initially arrived in Summer Bay in 2004, he was well-known for his aggressive attitude and lack of regard for authorities. Similar to Brad Pitt’s 1999 movie Fight Club, he even became embroiled in a bare-knuckle fighting conspiracy and was charged with murder for a crime he didn’t commit.

Having never portrayed a “bad guy,” Mark was first enticed to the role. He was requested to screen test alongside veteran actors Ray Meagher, who continues to play Alf Stewart, and Matilda Hunter, who played Indiana Evans.

Furthermore, even though Ric finally turned out to be one of the good people, he still had a strong temper and frequently got into confrontations.

But Mark was written off the drama in 2008 when Ric moved to Perth with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Matilda.

In response to Australia’s New Idea, he shared his favourite memory of filming Home and Away: “Life on the beach! being able to be in front of the camera in a setting like that with some amazing creative folks!”

He starred in the Australian film A Heartbeat Away and the TV show Underbelly: The Golden Mile after leaving Summer Bay.

He is currently concentrating on his musical career, as evidenced by his Instagram bio, which reads “Vocals/Guitar” and “Musician/band STONE LOVE.” In 2011, he also became a member of the band Shotgun Alley, and he just dropped his solo album, Stone Love.

Under Kelly Rowland’s guidance, Mark competed for The Voice Australia in 2020, but he was eliminated in the semi-finals.

He met his wife, model and singer Laural Barrett, while filming a music video in 2011. Laural, who won the Miss New Zealand beauty pageant in 2007, tied the knot with Mark in Las Vegas in 2015.

The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Soma, in January 2022.
