Felicia has been making mistakes as she attempts to find her place at General Hospital in her new role. Actress Kristina Wagner, who plays her, has much more cause for celebration.

Happy Birthday, Kristina Wagner

That’s because this gifted performer is celebrating her 61st birthday today! She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 30, 1962! Wagner developed an early interest in the performing arts and enrolled in numerous acting, dance, and elocution classes in the hopes of honing her abilities and eventually finding success in the “business.”

Wagner made appearances in local business commercials while attending Indiana Central University to pursue her degree in theater. She sent her resume and headshot to a modeling/talent scouting agency on her brother’s recommendation, and she was invited to audition for two soap operas based in New York, All My Children and Ryan’s Hope.

On a whim, Wagner traveled three hours from her college to Chicago during her junior year of college to attend auditions for General Hospital. She learned that the series wanted her back the following day for another read-through after she had driven back home. Wagner was cast in an ABC soap opera thanks to her apparent talent and the close call.

She moved to Los Angeles and made her screen debut as Felicia Cummings. She was thrown into a romantic relationship with Jack Wagner’s Frisco Jones right away. The couple got married in a few years after the coupling gained a lot of popularity.

When Wagner accepted her co-star’s proposal and they got married, real life mirrored film. Peter and Harrison, two sons, were born into the union, which ended in divorce.

With the exception of an eight-month layoff in 1991, Wagner was a contract player with GH for 19 years before ultimately retiring in 2003. She made a brief comeback the following year in a recurring role, but she left once more due to conflicts with the producers.

Wagner didn’t appear in the series again until 2012, when she agreed to return in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary, with the exception of a brief appearance in 2007. Fortunately, she signed a new contract in late 2021 and is back where she belongs—in the thick of things.
