Debbie Rush played Anna Windass on Coronation Street and it turns out two of her kids have followed in her footsteps to become soap stars – with one even appearing on Corrie

Two well-known children of a Coronation Street icon even made an appearance on the ITV soap opera.

After making her debut in 2008, actress Debbie Rush became well-known for her role as Anna Windass in the ITV serial opera. And it’s safe to assume that Anna contributed to a number of significant plots.

There was a lot of drama throughout her stay in Weatherfield, ranging from her conflict with the Platt family to her wrongful imprisonment. But when Debbie revealed in 2017 that she had departed the serial opera after nine years, her fans were devastated.

“I have had an amazing nine years on Coronation Street, and the decision to leave was not made lightly,” she added in a statement. I shall miss collaborating with the amazing cast and crew since I adore portraying Anna.

Debbie has kept herself occupied ever since. She starred in the comedy Brassic on Sky in 2019 and, more recently, she was cast in the 2024 ITV thriller Passenger, starring Matilda Freeman and Jack James Ryan.

Away from the spotlight, though, Debbie is contentedly married and has three kids. It transpires that two of her children have adopted their acting mother’s style.

Debbie and Andrew have been wed since 1989. Tom, Poppy, and William are the couple’s three children together. And it appears that two of her children inherited their renowned mother’s acting gene.

Actor William Rush, 19, is most recognized for his work on the BBC One drama series Waterloo Road. Between 2009 and 2013, the teenager portrayed Josh Stevenson.

William also starred in Grange Hill, Vera, and Shameless in addition to Waterloo Road. Additionally, he made an appearance on his mother’s serial opera Corrie back in 2014.

William, who played Ian, had a single appearance in the beloved soap opera while his mother was still a cast member.

Additionally, in 2016, he tried out for The X Factor’s thirteenth season, which helped to further boost his popularity. William survived the show’s six-chair task before being eliminated.

Poppy, Debbie’s daughter, has also followed an acting career in the interim. She has starred in soap operas like Corrie’s rival, just like her mother. In 2016, the singer and actress debuted in the role of Sophie Dodd on EastEnders in January.

The character was great friends with Stacey’s brother, Kyle Slater (Lacey Turner). May marked Sophie’s final episode in the soap opera. Poppy made appearances in Jinx, Love Matters, and Mount Pleasant as well.
