Coronation Street’s Carla Connor is now the new owner of the iconic Rovers – but fans reckon a soap legend is heading back to the cobbles to help run the pub alongside her
Supporters of Coronation Street are sure that a legendary cobbler will return to assist Carla Connor in running the Rovers.
Recently, Allison King’s character Carla on the soap opera took ownership of the well-known tavern on the cobblestones, shocking everyone. Fans will remember how Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) tried to repurchase the cherished tavern at Christmas by robbing serial killer Stephen Reid of his money.
The money officially belonged to owner Carla because Stephen (Todd Boyce) had taken it from Underworld before he was slain. Furthermore, Daisy and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) first refrained from disclosing the reality.
But in soap opera land, nothing remains hidden. And in an effort to recover her money, Carla revealed Jenny and Daisy’s deception last week. However, she proclaimed herself to be the new owner of Rovers Return rather than calling the police to report them.
It has now been reported that Carla would enlist the assistance of a beloved former character, Kym Marsh’s Michelle Connor. Furthermore, Michelle wouldn’t be behind the bar for long—she used to be the landlady of the tavern she co-owned with her ex-boyfriend Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
In 2006, Kym made her Corrie debut as Michelle. She also became a fan favorite of the audience over her 13 years as a regular on the ITV soap opera.
Michelle was involved in several major plots, such as the tragic baby swap conspiracy and the deaths of her brothers. Viewers particularly enjoyed her dynamic bond with sister-in-law Carla.
However, Kym devastated fans when she announced in 2019 that she was departing the serial opera after 13 years. December of that year saw the airing of her last program.
Michelle has been brought up a lot since she left. In 2023, her son Ryan (Ryan Prescott) was a victim of a horrifying acid attack; Ryan even went to see Michelle in Ireland and abandoned the cobbles.
Fans now speculate that Michelle may be joining Carla to assist in running the bar. One person commented on X, the former name for Twitter, saying, “Carla, call Michelle and let’s run the Rovers together!” “I can see it now, this would be epic,” another person retorted.
A third person added, musing, “They should bring Michelle back for Carla. Since Peter left, Carla has essentially lost everything.
In the meantime, a Reddit user expressed their disapproval of Michelle returning to take control of the Rover in a topic about the prospective new owner. “I just don’t want to see Michelle come back and take over,” they wrote. I would go crazy.
AI has also mirrored what the fans have been thinking. To find out if Michelle could take over as head of the Rovers alongside Carla, Daily Star put one of the most well-known artificially intelligent “creative” tools in the world to the test: Gemini.
“Michelle and Carla were a formidable team,” the program retorted. Their reunion at the Rovers, where they will work side by side, might make for entertaining viewing. Their rivalry could make for some amusing times since they are aware of each other’s advantages and disadvantages.
Gemini said that a “fresh start” might be another factor in Michelle’s return. The statement read, “Watchers of Coronation Street last saw Michelle depart Weatherfield in order to start over in Ireland. The Rovers might offer her the opportunity to start afresh and be nearer to her family in the event that things don’t work out there.
