Bethany Platt has been away from Weatherfield for some time, but after making her return last year, she is in for a massive storyline as she gets settled on the cobbles once again

As Bethany Platt returns to Weatherfield from Coronation Street, she is in for a “huge” new plot.

The ITV soap opera character Bethany, portrayed by Lucy Fallon, has been absent from the program for a while but returned towards the end of the previous year. This resulted from Fallon’s departure for private reasons and the birth of her son.

Producers are eager to make Bethany a key character now that the 28-year-old Manchester actress has returned to the show after hitting the cobbles once more in October. According to Lucy, this means that Platt will be getting her largest narrative to date.

Fallon made a significant comeback to the show’s storylines in an interview with Inside Soap, calling the plot “huge” after leaving the program for three years, from 2020 to 2023. She acknowledged that she was “really excited” to watch how her TV character fared as well.

“Bethany’s involved in the storyline surrounding Lauren’s disappearance, but there’s another huge plot coming up for her that we haven’t started filming,” Lucy told the magazine. The tragic events that aired last month with Lauren Boulton’s disappearance from her house served as the storyline for Lucy.

Cait Fitton’s character Lauren disappeared from sight after an unexpected visitor showed up at her home. Roy Cropper, the well-liked owner of the café, was detained by police on suspicion of killing her after she vanished, raising suspicions about a number of persons since then.

Currently, fans have no idea how the plot point will end, and how Bethany will fall into the storyline. But fans will have much to tuck into, as both Lucy and Bethany are sticking around for a while.

In 2020, Bethany made the decision to move out of Weatherfield after receiving a generous offer to work for a London-based fashion company. But before she went, she was the focus of a number of other dramas, such as the one involving her ex-partner Daniel, who asked her to marry him using the ring from his late wife Sinead.

She bid an emotional farewell to her partner Daniel, Bertie, and her family in heartbreaking images that aired before heading south to start a new life. Actress Lucy experimented with several different career paths at this period, all while putting her own needs and her child’s needs first.

But in the end, Lucy was brought back because the attraction of the show was simply too great for her to resist. “So Bethany’s back and we’re all fantastically excited to have her back; she’s incredibly well-liked around the building, and the viewers love her,” Corrie producer Iain Macleod remarked during her comeback last year.

“They’re really evenly matched today; whereas Bethany used to come off as a girl or a younger lady, she’s now lot more of a woman and more on Daisy’s level. These two ladies are engaged in a highly intense sparring match, which I hope to see more of.”

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX, Coronation Street airs.
