Coronation Street’s Sally Ann Matthews ‘not on a break’ from Jenny Bradley role

Matthews told fans on Instagram Live that they would not “be seeing Jenny for quite a long while”.

RadioTimes.com has learned that Sally Ann Matthews is not taking a vacation from Coronation Street just yet. It had appeared that the soap opera may be losing an icon, if only temporarily.

Fans were alarmed by Matthews’ recent Instagram Live remarks regarding her excessive travel schedule, raising concerns about her future on the serial opera Rovers Return. Matthews has played Jenny Bradley, previously known as Jenny Connor, as the landlady on the show on and off since 1986.

“I decided to board an aircraft because I’m very quiet at work,” she stated. I decided to take an airplane because I have like a million years off. I have traveled to Cyprus twice in the last five weeks; we returned last night after our landing.

“On Saturday, I have plans for my next vacation. We are going to go out on the boat, and after that I’m simply going to sit back and do nothing. I’m going to return to Cyprus after that and do nothing. And eventually, I might get employment and be hired by someone.”

When fans questioned if she had left the street, Matthews gave an alarming response, hinting that all of her jet-setting had left little time for soap opera filming. Hold on, the following query.”

“You’re not going to be seeing Jenny for quite a long time,” she subsequently said. That concludes the matter.

RadioTimes.com is aware, though, that Matthews is not, as of right now, taking a vacation from the soap opera.

Jenny appears to be staying on the street, however Gail Rodwell is one character we do know is going, as Helen Worth confirmed her exit from the soap opera after 50 years in the role.

Regarding her choice to quit, Worth stated: “After celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world, this felt like the perfect time to leave the show.” I spoke with the producers at the beginning of the year and made the decision; they were really understanding and nice.

“I consider myself extremely fortunate to have worked with outstanding actors, directors, and crew, as well as to have consistently been given the most amazing scripts.” The last fifty years have gone fairly quickly, and I don’t think it really hit me that I’m leaving.”
