Coronation Street’s Tim Metcalfe commits betrayal which will break his soulmate’s heart

As the proverb goes, “You always hurt the one you love.” In forthcoming episodes of Coronation Street, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) will cause pain to someone he loves when he is forced to leave Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) in favor of his lethal rival on his birthday.

Tim first intended to join his friend in celebrating Steve’s fiftieth birthday with a night out. With his marriage having failed and his dating experiences ending tragically, Steve doesn’t think there’s much to celebrate, but Tim assures him that they will have an amazing time. That’s what true friends are for.

Weatherfield County is something that Tim adores nearly as much as he does Steve. He has affection for Sally Dynevor as well.

Tim knows he won’t be able to decline her invitation to the gala event at the County Grounds when she informs him she has one. Sally is excited to go shopping and get a new outfit because she enjoys attending gala events.

Sadly, Steve’s birthday falls on the same night as the event. Even worse, a special bronze bust of County’s famed former striker Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) is being unveiled on the occasion. Orpington was a football player who turned decorator and swept Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) off her feet, taking her to a life in Spain while leaving poor Steve unable to compete.

Though it’s a huge betrayal, Steve gets the incorrect idea when Tim says he can’t go out with him on his birthday and thinks Tim is throwing a lavish surprise party.

When Steve hears Sally discussing getting a new wardrobe, he knows he’s headed in the right direction.

Tracy was supposed to visit, so Steve was hoping for one final shot to win her back. When that was canceled, he was devastated.

Even if Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Cassie (Claire Sweeney), and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) all deny knowing that a party is taking place, he still has his “surprise party” to look forward to. Steve, poor misguided fellow, merely believes that everyone are aware of the secret.

As Tommy attempts to ruin his life once more, he will be devastated to learn where Tim actually went on his birthday.
