The following week on Coronation Street, Kit tells Paul and Gemma the truth behind Bernie’s back, Steve plots to exact revenge on Tommy O, and Toyah is given a shocking diagnosis.

Please take note that Coronation Street is presently planned to show on Monday, July 1st, and Wednesday, July 3rd, due to football programming on ITV1. However, the Monday episode has not yet been confirmed and may be rescheduled.

1) Kit prepares to reveal the truth

Kit (Jacob Roberts) betrays his newfound mum Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) next week, as he plans to turn half-siblings Paul (Peter Ash) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) against her.

Kit, then known as Zodiac (Zac for short) was put into care by Bernie over 30 years ago and subsequently adopted out. Bernie has explained that she was already bringing up Paul and Gemma as a single mum at the time, and with no-one to support her she felt she had no choice but to give up her son.

Even though Kit’s adoptive parents raised him well, he had strong animosity toward his birth mother, especially when she set up a meeting with him ten years prior but later withdrew.

After she found Bernie, Kit made it clear that he didn’t want anything to do with him, but he was eager to get to know his siblings.

Jacob Roberts says, “He doesn’t want anything to do with her; he is still very angry.” As far as he knows, she left him twice: first when he was a baby and again when he was twenty and he made plans to meet her but she never showed up. He still has a lot of unanswered questions.

“He regrets that Bernie prevented him from dating Gemma and Paul.” Being the lone child, he feels bitter that he hasn’t spent as much time with his siblings as he would have liked to. Time is running out for all of them because they still don’t realize he’s their brother and Paul is dying.

As a police detective, Kit has already helped the twins in his day-to-day work. He chastised a man at Weatherfield General for stealing Paul’s disabled parking space, and last week, he succeeded in pressuring the proprietor of a shoe store where Gemma was caught shoplifting to drop charges.

Unaware of his true relationship to them, Gemma and Paul have both commented on this friendly new police officer. In Friday’s episode, Gemma even invited him into No. 5 to meet Chesney (Sam Aston) and the quads.

But while he was there, Kit’s father tragically called to inform him that his mother had recently passed away from a stroke.

Bernie, who had arrived just as Kit was heading out, followed him to his car and apologized.

He said to her, “I can’t believe the mum I loved is no longer here.” However, the person who left me behind is still very much alive.

Bernie expressed optimism that they may establish a relationship soon, mentioning Paul’s limited time remaining as an MND sufferer, but Kit abruptly shifted her position.

He said that life was too short and apologized to Bernie for how he had spoken to her. He proposed that the two of them tell the twins jointly the following day.

Bernie was happy with the course of events, but Kit’s smile vanished as he turned away, indicating that he was still resentful of her.

“It is all an act, he is letting her think that he wants to bring the family together,” Jacob reveals. “Whilst he is being honest about wanting a relationship with Gemma and Paul, he is pretending that he wants to build bridges with Bernie but it is the last thing he wants.”

Kit plans to meet Bernie in the Rovers the following week; but, as she anxiously anticipates his arrival, she is unaware that Kit has instead made his way to Paul’s apartment, with the intention of telling the twins independently.

Jacob informs us, “He wants to tell Gemma and Paul his version of events.” He desires for them to understand how their mother abandoned him and concealed his presence from them. He genuinely wants to show how selfish he thinks she was and how much they all missed out on. He does enjoy it a little when he does it behind her back. Like she injured him, he wants to hurt her.

What will Paul and Gemma think?

2) Steve wants revenge

At No. 1, however, Steve’s (Simon Gregson) 50th birthday celebrations are about to get begin. Alternatively, he believes they are.

Steve believed a covert celebration was being planned when his friend Tim (Joe Duttine) informed him he wouldn’t be able to attend his special day. The truth was that Sally (Sally Dynevor) had convinced Tim to go with her to an exclusive event—the unveiling of Tommy O’s (Matt Milburn) new bust—a former Weathy County player.

Tim was unable to tell Steve anything, of course, because erstwhile hero Tommy had fled to France with Steve’s wife Tracy (Kate Ford). When Steve inquired about his “party,” he was met with blank stares that led him to believe that everyone was involved.

Because of this, the fairly dull party in No. 1’s living room isn’t quite the event Steve was hoping for, and he is devastated to discover that Tim has betrayed him.

In order for Steve to face Tim and Sally at the opening at the Chariot Square Hotel, Cassie (Claire Sweeney) volunteers to accompany him. However, upon their arrival, they devise a crafty scheme for Steve to exact his sweet retribution on Tommy O.

Soon afterwards, Tommy and the distinguished guests gather for the ceremony, but what surprise is awaiting them?

Later in the week, Steve is regretting his and Cassie’s mischievous antic, and enlists Tim to help him put things right. But when Debbie (Sue Devaney) catches them in the act, has Steve been rumbled?

3) Toyah tries to save Amy from the Institute

At the bistro, Leanne (Jane Danson) sees the perfect opportunity to put her new Level 5 status at the Altovalent Institute to good measure.

Leanne’s progress with group leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper), as well as a significant amount of money, has seen Leanne rise the ranks in the sinister cult, to the point where she’ll soon be able to recruit her own members.

With Amy’s (Elle Mulvaney) responsibilities both at home and work beginning to get on top of her, Leanne suggests that she watches one of the institute’s seminar videos to relieve her stress.

Toyah (Georgia Taylor) is horrified when she finds out, fearing that Amy could also fall under their spell.

But after being intimidated into signing an NDA, preventing her from speaking out against the institute, will Toyah be able to warn Amy off before it’s too late?

4) Toyah receives a shock diagnosis

Later in the week, Toyah is feeling out of sorts, and explains to Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne that she’s suffering with stomach pains. When Nick later returns home to find Toyah on the floor in agony, he rushes her to Weatherfield General.

After Leanne joins them, the doctor (Andrew Pollard) gives a diagnosis that completely surprises the three of them when the test results are eventually received.

5) Roy can’t bring himself to face the public

Over at the cafe, Roy (David Neilson) has been hiding himself away following his prison ordeal. Having been wrongly placed on remand for the suspected murder of missing teen Lauren (Cait Fitton), it was only the discovery of forensic evidence planted in known offender Nathan Curtis’s van that saw Roy released.

A month after his release, Nina (Mollie Gallagher), Shona (Julia Goulding), and Yasmeen (Shirley Metcalfe) are worried about a despondent Roy who is still locked up in his apartment with his books for companionship. Can they devise a strategy to help Roy break out of his shell once more?

6) Bethany follows a lead

The curious case of Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) stolen credit card is also still in mind. Bethany was confused when she received a letter regarding the usage of her old Lazaret company credit card, which has hasn’t used in ages.

Shona notes that there is a transaction for a supermarket on the statement that Bethany will receive from the company the following week. There’s a chance the offender may have been captured on camera if it had been a Click and Collect order.

Is Bethany getting any closer to cracking the case when she calls the shop to be sure?
