As viewers of Coronation Street are aware, Emrhys Cooper is currently featured on screen as an Institute representative named Rowan Cunliffe.

Toyah is becoming more and more worried for her sister as a result of him enticing Leanne into the Institute.

Emrhys Cooper, star of Corrie, has now expressed his opinions about how Rowan should fare in this plot.

Coronation Street: Rowan and the Institute

Viewers of Corrie will recall that Leanne was recently told she could begin recruiting new members for the Institute on her own, which only served to draw her closer and closer to Rowan.

Toyah, though, believes Rowan is taking advantage of Leanne and con artisting her. She hasn’t wasted any time accusing Rowan and the Institute of anything and everything; Rowan has already filed a defamation lawsuit against Toyah.

By having a spy on Toyah, Rowan was able to obtain a picture of Nick and Toyah sharing a kiss.

He then put her under pressure to sign an NDA by using this information against her. In order to prevent the truth about her affair from being discovered, Toyah then signed the contract.

Rowan is going to bait Amy Barlow into the Institute in later scenes, having learned of her inheritance fund.

Actor Emrhys Cooper has expressed his hopes for Rowan, despite his schemes. He thinks Rowan has some redeeming qualities, so he hopes that he will eventually turn from his bad behavior.

“I would love a redemption storyline for Rowan,” Emrhys said. Even just having an arc where we witness some kind of development would be enjoyable. I’m not sure if that’s in the cards, but it would be exciting.

“I’d like to believe that he still has some redeeming qualities, and perhaps he has also been brainwashed.”
