Home and Away has revealed a hurdle for Felicity Newman’s new romance.

The soap recently teased the arrival of Titans actor Joshua Orpin as new love interest Rory, who is set to shake things up in Summer Bay.

TV Week reported that Felicity is unimpressed by Rory when he whistles at her while she’s on the beach, but is later won over by his charm.

Despite his terrible first impression, Rory decides to give his phone number to Felicity, who begins to have doubts following her drawn-out split from ex-husband Tane Parata.

In a new Australian-pace trailer, which was posted to the soap’s official Instagram account on Thursday (July 4), police officer Cash Newman is determined to keep his sister away from the newcomer.

The clip sees Cash return to police work, which causes tension among returning criminal gang The River Boys.

“We have a unique opportunity to get some dirt on the new cop,” said gang member Rory as Cash arrives in town.

“He’s dating my sister,” Cash later reveals after Rory vandalises his car. “My condolences,” replied his colleague.

A concerned Cash then urges Felicity to stay away from Rory, saying: “I need you to end things with him. I’m just going to need you to stay away from this guy, okay please? I wouldn’t be asking you this if it wasn’t important.”

Will Felicity listen to Cash’s warnings?

These scenes will air next week in Australia, before premiering in August in the UK on Channel 5.

When Orpin’s casting was announced in March, he described his character as “a bit of a bad boy” who would be stirring things up in the Bay – but also as someone who has “great depth”.

Speaking to TV Week, the actor has since explained that Rory’s status as a River Boy “comes with a preconceived notion about who he is based on the fact that he’s a member of a gang that has a legacy.”

He continued: “A lot of the exploration of Rory’s character comes down to things such as love and loyalty and how far that loyalty extends.”
