In Coronation Street, Toyah Battersby had even worse news: she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. ITV viewers are convinced there’s more to this story off-screen.
Toyah Battersby received devastating news about her cancer, but viewers of Coronation Street have pushed her to seek a second opinion.
The cobbles favorite, played by Georgia Taylor, was utterly astonished to learn she was pregnant after years of infertility issues. Her sister Leanne (Jane Danson) was not even aware that her own husband, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), was the baby’s father.
Toyah’s story took a terrible turn when she was admitted to Weatherfield General Hospital again, only to learn that she had ovarian cancer. Viewers of the ITV drama were incensed when the official diagnosis was made.
Many fans of X, also known as Twitter, attacked the plot of the show, criticizing how Toyah has been treated unfairly in recent weeks because of her ongoing feud with Rowan Cunliffe (Emmys Cooper). The longtime Corrie resident was recently faced with financial catastrophe and compelled to pay exorbitant legal fees.
This Friday, July 5, a viewer posted on social media, saying, “Once again soaps love showing women suffer, after all of Toyah’s fertility problems they now take away her pregnancy and give her a cancer scare”.
Another viewer of the Manchester-based show criticized the producers, saying they didn’t think the plot was plausible: “I find the Toyah storyline to be very annoying.” She gets admitted with a stomach ache? Not that I think. And then, without waiting to send her back to her general practitioner, they diagnosis her with cancer? It is evident that the writers have not been through the NHS in a long time.”
An further viewer of TV bemoaned: “Woe is Toyah. All of her past, including the stillbirth of her child, the affair between Leanne and Nick, the news that she is pregnant, the possibility that she has ovarian cancer, and her decision to leave for Rowan, all come back to haunt her.”
“So within a few weeks, Toyah has been given a dead baby that didn’t match up with classic #Corrie,” a shocked viewer then said. became detained; joined a cult; had an affair, had cancer, and a phantom pregnancy. A fresh writing staff is sorely needed for this show.”
A few viewers, though, questioned Toyah’s diagnosis and refused to accept that she would have to deal with the sickness. One even insisted that she see a second doctor, saying, “Toyah, seek another opinion, please! What a mind f***, she went from being pregnant to not being pregnant to getting cancer.” “They aren’t gonna give Toyah cancer, are they?” echoed a different admirer. A third added: It’s time to determine whether Toyah truly has cancer or not.
Whatever the situation, drama is undoubtedly in store as Nick Tilsley shockingly revealed to his half-brother David Platt that he might not even still be in love with Leanne and that he might even be able to help Toyah through her medical battle.
