Before his official Emmerdale debut, fans have already “rumbled” about which villager a new Sugden will fall in love with.
Although it’s a relative, Emmerdale viewers have “figured out” who newbie John Sugden might be seeing.
Oliver Farnworth’s character is anticipated to arrive at the well-known village shortly. John is described as “brooding and mysterious,” with many mysteries hidden.
John is going to be joining Victoria (Isabel Hodgins), the only other Sugden left in the village after Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) left in 2022.
Sophie Roper, the producer of Emmerdale, hinted at the turmoil that is coming soon when she talked about the new Sugden. “We’re eager to cement the Sugdens back in the show because, like the Dingles, they are an iconic family group in Emmerdale,” the spokesperson stated.
It has also been teased that newbie John will “catch the eye of an unsuspecting resident” – and it’s fair to say fans have their thoughts on who this could be.
Over on social media, viewers reckon he could start a romance with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). While not much has been revealed yet about John, if he was Vic’s sister and did start a romance with Aaron – it would mean he’d fall in love with his brother Robert’s ex.
“So, a Sugden is coming to #Emmerdale, he will connect with his sister Victoria then his car is gonna break down, we find out he’s Not Straight, and he’s gonna catch the eye of someone (Aaron is the only gay man left on the show now) and there will be a relationship on the horizon,” a user commented on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Imagine Robert returning to Emmerdale and learning that Aaron is having an affair 2.0 with his brother—pure fg perfection—I would eat that s*t up, wrote a second. (sic)
Replying to a post confirming John’s arrival, a third fan mused: “A new man for Aaron?” Someone else wrote: “I wonder if catch the eye of an unsuspecting resident is Aaron as he likes Sugden and he looks a lot like Robert and might be his brother.” (sic)
Discussing his arrival to the show, Oliver said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team.”
