‘Hidden agenda’ lurks, according to Emmerdale viewers, who believe they have unearthed a big connection between the Dingles and Matty Barton’s cellmate Les.
Fans of Emmerdale think they’ve discovered a vital link between Cain Dingle and Les, Matty Barton’s new cellmate.

For stabbing Samson Dingle, Matty is presently being held on remand; nevertheless, Samson has been urged by his mother Moira to admit that Matty acted in self-defense. However, Matty’s situation seems dire because Samson intends to travel and abandon the hamlet.
Disturbing moments from when Matty’s wife Amy accidentally told his transphobic cellmate Robbo that he is a trans man were recently aired on the ITV soap opera. After being able to keep Matty safe at first, Les was let out of jail, leaving Matty on his own.

After a vicious attack that left him fighting for his life, Matty made up the story that transphobic hooligans had attacked him.

In an additional turn of events, it was eventually revealed that Matty had been physically abused by Les, who had begged his cellmate to do so in order to get him to the hospital and away from the bullies. After only two days of rest, Matty was left with broken ribs, a cracked eye socket, and bruises all over his face.

However, fans believe they’ve discovered a key link between Les, the orchestrator of the staged attack, and Matty’s stepfather Cain after he seemed to recognise the name when it was mentioned in prison. Viewers speculate the pair may have shared a cell during Cain’s imprisonment.

Fans of the ITV soap took to Twitter to share their theories. “I think Les is an old cellmate of Cain’s!” one viewer wrote, with another adding: “I have got a feeling that Les is in it for the long run and I got a feeling that Les is an old cellmate of Cain’s. And Matty asked him to beat him up to keep him safe.”

A third fan suggested: “I just have a feeling Les is going to break his licence conditions deliberately to end up back inside. I can picture it now, him returning to the cell just in time to stop Matty getting hurt again!”

The positive response to Les’s character has led to calls for him to stay on a permanent basis. “Dear Emmerdale, where do I sign the petition to keep Les in the village? Please and thank you!” one viewer pleaded.

Another fan agreed, writing: “I like Les, can we keep him please?”

Still, not everyone was persuaded. “If Les was to stay, I’m not sure I trust the writers to do good things with his character.”

“Emmerdale has introduced so many useless characters in the last couple of years, I hope they’ve got the sense to make Les permanent,” wrote a viewer in response to the show’s recent character explosion. So far, he’s been excellent.”

Another concurred, saying: “I really like Les I hope he stays a regular character, I just have this feeling the writers have other ideas…”
