The actress admitted that the result made the storyline all the more “authentic”.
Online fans responded humorously to Emmerdale’s revelation that villainous rapist Craig Reed (Ben Addis) was actually killed by Kim Tate’s horse.
But did Lydia ever truly receive justice for her ordeal? Karen Blick, an actress, disagrees.
Unsettling scenes from Lydia’s re-acquainted childhood buddy being sexually raped were shown on Emmerdale in late 2023.
The aftermath was examined in the soap opera, as Lydia struggled to deal with what had transpired while running from her loved ones.
Speaking only at the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards 2024, which were supported by Inspired Villages, Blick said that although she didn’t think Lydia had received justice, the plot was nevertheless “authentic” because of it.
“No, I don’t think she did,” Blick stated. Regarding whether victims and survivors of that kind of atrocity ever receive justice, that is absolutely true.
She was therefore irritated. It was complex because it involved someone she knew and grew up with, and there was a part of her that wanted to shield him in a convoluted manner.”
Though it was indirectly related to Kim Tate, the actress said she found the circumstances surrounding Craig’s murder to be a “clever” and “interesting” twist.
“It was a fascinating turn of events,” she remarked, adding that she had been speculating which Dingle was to blame “for a considerable amount of time.”
