It wasn’t long before fans’ thoughts turned to another old favorite, Steve Peacocke, who played Daryl “Brax” Braxton, one of the show’s most popular characters.
However, although Steve’s on-screen brother is exciting fans with his surprise comeback, Brax is unlikely to follow suit.
The Five Bedrooms actress has repeatedly stated in previous interviews that a return to Home and Away is not on the cards.
In an interview with TV WEEK in August 2019, the actor stated unequivocally that he had no plans to resume his iconic role anytime soon.
“It was an awesome, fun job, with really good people, but no. It’s one of those things – it’s nice to enjoy while you’re doing it, and if you want to stick around, stick around or move on,” Steve, who left the show in 2016, explained.
“I think where the tale was left was about spot-on for me,” the Gold Logie winner continued. I believe it ended in a way that the audience enjoyed. “It got to the best conclusion it could.”
In an interview with the same journal three years prior, he expressed similar sentiments.
“For me, I left Home And Away at the perfect time. With any performance, you leave when they’re saying ‘This is really good instead of ‘Oh, gosh get rid of this guy.’” Steve said.
Since then, the actor has starred in a number of high-profile films both domestically and internationally, including Me Before You, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and Wanted. His next major part will be in the Channel Nine drama Informer 3838.
With a growing resume of various roles under his belt, Steve has previously stated that he prefers to keep moving forward in his profession rather than rehashing former parts.
In 2016, Steve told the Who magazine that he’d prefer to leave Brax in the rear-view mirror.
“My memories are incredibly fond…but it’s like a good holiday; you have to move on,” he confessed.
“’It’s a happy memory, but you don’t necessarily want to do it again.”
