Coronation Street’s Peter Ash is best known for playing Paul Foreman but away from the cobbles, the actor has a very private life
Coronation Street star Peter Ash is currently depicting a heartbreaking storyline as Paul Foreman.
Peter first joined ITV‘s Coronation Street in 2018 and became a regular cast member the following year and was unveiled as Gemma Winter’s (Dolly-Rose Campbell) twin brother. The 39-year-old actor is set to bid farewell to Coronation Street as his character’s struggle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) reaches a tragic conclusion.
A special hour-long episode focusing on Paul’s MND battle will air on Friday, July 26, filmed from his perspective. The episode will showcase a special day arranged by Paul’s husband Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).
Off-screen, Peter is romantically involved with nurse Amy Shawcross who he has been with since 2018, marking six years of their relationship and are now parents to son Ayden.
Peter occasionally shares snippets of his life with Amy on social media. In February, the couple enjoyed a romantic getaway to the Lake District to celebrate Paul’s birthday, reports OK!. Captioning an image from their trip, the actor wrote: “Me and my girl #LakeDistrict #BirthdayWeekend.”
The Corrie star sharing a heartfelt Instagram post in 2022 to commemorate their four-year anniversary. He posted a charming photo of the two at The Railway Inn in Greenfield, writing: “4 years ago we had our first date in this same pub! Love you.”
The exact date for Peter’s departure as Paul from Coronation Street remains up in the air, but a special standalone episode centred on his character suggests that his exit could be imminent. paul has been facing worsening symptoms, most recently beginning to lose his ability to speak.
Peter relayed his thoughts about the unique episode, saying: “I feel incredibly proud to have worked on this episode.From the moment I read the script I knew it was going to be something really special (mostly because I couldn’t stop crying!) I loved being able to record Paul’s inner thoughts, showing us the mind is still 100per cent, even with MND.
“I hope the audience enjoys it, as everyone involved gave their all!”
This poignant episode also serves as a tribute to the late rugby star Rob Burrow, who passed away from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) earlier in the year.
In this hour-long emotional ride, viewers will follow Billy and Paul as they share a meaningful day reliving memories and cherished moments with family and friends.
