Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle made a sudden exit from the village during Wednesday’s episode after she decided to leave her abusive husband Tom King

Emmerdale‘s Belle Dingle made a dramatic departure from the village in Wednesday’s episode (July 31) of the ITV soap. The heartbroken character had recently discovered that her husband Tom had been subjecting her to months of abuse.

The menacing figure had resorted to violence, obsessively monitored her whereabouts, and even concocted a scheme to lure her into moving to an isolated area in Wales.

During their Welsh getaway, Belle realised his intentions to cut her off from the world as their holiday turned into a harrowing ordeal.

She finally escaped his grip and declared their marriage finished upon her return to Emmerdale.

However, in tonight’s episode, Tom attempted to ingratiate himself with Belle, making a sly remark about the security camera at their cottage, which led her to see through his act of trying to be “best buds”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Charity Dingle advised Belle to take some time away and visit her dad and Debbie with the pair putting their plan into immediate action.

Tom caught up with Belle just as Charity was about to drive her out of the Dales. He queried, “You going somewhere? ” to which Charity responded, “She’s just going to stay with Debs for a bit.”

Belle said, “Just to clear my head” but Tom retorted, “I would have given you a lift if you asked.”

As Belle struggled with Piper, she grew frustrated with Tom’s probing and snapped back: “I would have driven myself if you hadn’t sold my car.”

Tom persisted with his questioning, asking: “When are you back?”, leading Belle to sharply respond: “I don’t know Tom! When I am ready.”

In a bid to retain control over the situation, Tom adamantly declared his intention to keep Piper. However, Belle boldly confronted him with her own claim to the beloved pet.

Bewildered by her audacity, he exclaimed: “I can’t believe you are doing this to me,” as he stood there, helplessly watching her drive away with Piper in tow. But when will she be back?
