Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank has shared a loving picture alongside his co-stars, one of which is set to leave the ITV soap after 6 years.

Daniel portrays vicar Billy Mayhew in the show, who is currently caring for husband Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), who has motor neurone disease.

Billy and Paul are also the adopted parents of Summer Spellman, played by Harriet Bibby.

Recently, a special episode of the ITV soap aired that focused solely on their storyline. After Paul learnt it was no longer safe for him to use the stairlift to get in and out of the flat, Billy told him they could have one more day together doing whatever he wanted, before he is essentially confined to the four walls of his home.

Throughout the day, Paul and Billy visited the church they’d got married in, before heading to the Rovers for a drink with friends.

Paul was pleased that he had Billy there to translate for him when he struggled to speak, but it soon became clear that Billy couldn’t understand everything he was saying.

When Billy believed that Paul had asked for him to take him to the loo, Paul grew upset, revealing that he’d actually been trying to tell Billy that he loved him.

The instalment also saw Paul tell Billy in incredibly emotional scenes that he didn’t want to end his life anymore. A few days later, Paul confirmed that he wanted ‘to go on living for as long as I can, however I can. I’m going to let nature take its course.’

Due to the intensity of this storyline, these Corrie co-stars know the importance of positive distractions. Just recently, Daniel posted a sweet snap on his Instagram hugging Harriet and Peter after enjoying some time together away from Weatherfield.

The trio are grinning in the picture and it’s clear they have a lot of love for each other. Daniel wrote alongside the post: ‘These guys!! ❤️ It’s a daily pleasure. Genuinely.’

‘When you’re this busy, it is all consuming’, Daniel told us when asked about how he manages to switch off after a heavy, emotional day of filming.

‘You’re either at home learning it and reading it, or you’re here filming it. And there’s very little downtime. However I’ve got my three little dogs, which I walk and get out and about with, as long as I’m outside, I’m happy. I love getting my vitamin D. I love my gardening. Basically, my whole garden is now an allotment and I grow all my own veg.

‘Also getting away in my little camper van at the weekend if the weather’s decent. For me it is about grounding myself in nature and the outdoors. It’s a very recharging thing to be in nature and outside. But also wine. Wine really helps, haha!’
