Following Teddy Mitchell’s irresistible offer to Reiss Colwell, EastEnders viewers are certain they know what he is up to.

Fans of EastEnders believe they have figured out Teddy Mitchell’s strategy for Reiss Colwell, and it’s not good.

When Roland Manookian’s character Teddy moved into Walford earlier this year, it created quite a stir among the audience. Fans have recently begun to question his behavior.

As followers of the soap will remember, accountant Reiss, played by Jonny Freeman, has been grappling with severe financial issues. He found himself owing money to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) after misleading them about an investment scheme that promised to double their returns.

Upon discovering Reiss’s deception, an irate Phil demanded his money back within the week, threatening dire consequences otherwise.

This week, Sharon informed Teddy about Phil’s ultimatum regarding Reiss’s debt. Later, Phil stormed Sonia and Reiss’s home, only to be pacified by Teddy and Sharon, reports the Daily Star.

Sharon assured him she would handle the situation, and Teddy later convinced Phil to let him deal with Reiss, to which Phil consented.

Teddy then visited Reiss to inform him that he was assuming his debt to Phil. Reiss was taken aback and bewildered by the news, and Teddy told him he could repay him in instalments.

EastEnders viewers are worried about the prospects for Reiss after Teddy offered him a way out of his financial woes with work that fans suspect could be very “dodgy” indeed. The offer has left the fans buzzing with speculation on social media.

On an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one concerned viewer voiced their suspicions: “Can’t figure out that Teddy Mitchell, paying off Phil and taking on Reiss’s debt, he’s definitely up to no good.”

The theories only grew from there, as another fan speculated: “I think he is a debt collector in his old area and uses violence on the quiet to get what he wants.”

Others seemed to agree, with a third comment reading: “yeah, I thought loan shark.”

The discussion prompted more fans to weigh in on Teddy’s mysterious agenda. One person declared: “Whatever is it Teddy is dodgy! ” while another fan suggested an ominous parallel: “Think they are the new Krays.. it’s not going to end well.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
