Following recent scenes, an EastEnders pair is in trouble and their love might be about to collapse.
After falling asleep with Charli in the back of the car, Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) found himself in a dangerous situation with the Slater family.
In tonight’s episode, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) insisted that he should cut his work hours down, given that the night shift he had done was what caused his exhaustion.
However, Harvey argued that they needed the money, which got Jean’s guard up. She pointed out that he must have a lot squirrelled away thanks to all the hours he’d been working.
Viewers will know that Harvey has actually been giving money to Maya Houssain (Bharti Patel) to help her out, after finding out that her husband was the victim of one of his son Aaron’s racist attacks.
In a bid to catch Harvey out, Jean asked if he’d been sending money to daughter Dana, and he was quick to latch onto the suggestion.
However, Jean called his bluff, revealing that she’d already spoken to Dana, who explained that she hadn’t heard from Harvey for two weeks.
Harvey was furious that Jean had contacted her behind his back, which upset Jean, who viewed Dana as part of her family.
Backed into a corner, Harvey came clean about where the money was really going, and insisted that he had a responsibility to help Maya because he had lied for Aaron.
Jean was quick to point out that he was now lying to her, and that he needed to put their family first and tell Maya that he wouldn’t be helping anymore.
Harvey then met up with Maya and explained the situation, and Maya agreed with Jean that he should stop giving her money.
She thanked him, before cutting ties and heading home.
Back at the Slater’s, Harvey told Jean that he had put the situation with Maya behind him, and would be able to go back to working normal hours and spending more time with her.
However, Jean dropped the bombshell that she wasn’t sure they were the right fit anymore, as he had lied to her.
When Harvey asked if she was breaking up with him, she told him that she wasn’t sure, but that she had arranged for him to stay on Alfie Moon’s (Shane Richie) sofa for a while and that they would discuss things the next day.
Is this the end for Harvey and Jean?
