Despite being a relatively recent addition to the Australian soap opera, Matt Evans, who plays the endearing Theo, managed to land a secret role for his mother in Summer Bay.
Evans, 27, as the endearing Theo Poulos, debuted in 2021. It was his first time acting, and he was happy about it. As a result, his proud mother Sharon was ecstatic about his success.
But after two years, the virus had infiltrated the family when Sharon came clean about wanting to be on the soap opera.
She was fortunate that her adorable son Matt was able to make some connections and secure her a minor role.
Matt shared a picture of his mother on set on Instagram stories in April 2023. During the show’s filming in Sydney’s Palm Beach, his mother was spotted sitting at a table with an umbrella covering her and on a pair of sunglasses.
In the photo that Matt shot of his devoted mother, Sharon was focused despite being captured on camera reading a book. He captioned the photo, writing, “Mum made it on set as an extra today,” and then tagged his friend Holly Mather, who was carrying the umbrella.
A second snap from the shoot came once cameras had stopped rolling as mother and son had a warm embrace as the sun began to set on the picturesque beaches of Summer Bay. Matt was dressed in a red Coca-Cola T-shirt and black-and-white canvas trainers, whilst mum Sharon donned a loose, black top with patterned baggy trousers and a pair of white trainers.
Writing in the caption, “Summer Bay…”, both Matt and Sharon were able to beam to the camera with smiles as they watched the waves crash onto the beach. The pair also tucked into a small takeaway cup of coffee each as they wrapped up on shooting for the day.
The current retrospective occurs when Valerie Beaumont, a newcomer, seems to be enticing Theo. Poulos is drawn to the villain when she offers him a drug, which takes a nasty turn in his life, in moments that had viewers yelling at the TV.
The beginning of a perilous and sinister plot for the character occurs when a stressed-out Theo takes a medication after Valerie tells him that it helps her relax. It happens just as Kirby informs Theo that their band Lyrik has been scheduled for a fantastic chance to tour and do media appearances.
But as Kirby notices that Theo has been away and partying non-stop, she questions whether he is even fit for it. However, a controlling Valerie steps in and dismisses Kirby’s concerns, insisting that Theo will be okay.
Kirby relents, but secretly goes to Justin Morgan to tell all, believing Valerie to be a bad influence on Theo. With Valerie starting to pull Theo’s strings and isolating him from his friends, is this the beginning of Theo’s downfall?
