Coronation Street viewers are convinced they’ve rumbled a baby twist involving Joel Deering and it’s bad news for the evil solicitor on the hit ITV soap

Coronation Street viewers are certain they’ve sussed out a twist about villain Joel Deering.Fans of the longstanding soap will remember that the truth about Joel’s assault on Lauren Bolton was finally exposed recently, where he was revealed to be the perpetrator behind the vicious attack that nearly claimed Lauren’s life.

After manipulating her into a relationship, showering her with presents and money, Joel exhibited his violent streak. When Lauren attempted to break free, Joel responded with violence, leaving Lauren to disappear in safety.

Everyone thought Lauren had been killed so it came as a shock when she returned to the cobbles not long ago, alive and with the shocking news that she was expecting Joel’s child. The drama heightened when Lauren was forced into premature labour due to Joel’s sick drugging plan, resulting in their son being hospitalised.

Despite the havoc he has wreaked, Joel remains uncharged due to insufficient evidence and continues to torment Lauren and his former partner Dee-Dee Bailey, reports the Daily Star. In the latest episode aired on Monday, Joel issued another ominous threat to Lauren, declaring that he had enlisted a lawyer and aimed to fight for custody of their son Frankie. However, viewers have noted a potential discrepancy in Joel’s menacing plot, hinting at an unexpected twist involving the evil solicitor.

Social media quickly became abuzz when a fan highlighted a legal loophole: “Surely if Joel isn’t on the birth certificate, he wouldn’t have the right to have any access to the child.”

Meanwhile, another speculated on social media: “I think they will have a DNA and find out it’s not his child just my opinion” while another fan of the show mused: “Sorry but Joel literally said it himself he’s already been barred from seeing one kid so in what possible world would he be granted custody of another? Especially when despite what he says he hasn’t proven Lauren to be unfit. If he had Social Services would be involved #Corrie.”

The speculation among fans comes after Calum Lill, who portrays Joel on Corrie, hinted at even darker times ahead for his villainous character. In a recent appearance on This Morning, he ominously revealed: “I think one thing we’ve seen with Joel is he’s very selfish, driven and seems to lack empathy so I think the worst is yet to come from Joel, he’s only going to get worse.” When pressed about whether this means more victims could be in store, or potentially trouble for Joel’s ex Dee-Dee, actor Calum teased: “Who knows? I think it could even get worse than you think! “.
