In recent Emmerdale scenes, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) bravely confided in Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) about her abuse at the hands of Tom King (James Chase). Soon after, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) also learned of this.
In a special episode that centered on Belle’s choice to come forward about her assault, viewers witnessed several situations unfold as Belle considered her options.
In one of the made-up stories, Cain attacked Tom after learning of his mistreatment of Belle, leaving him for dead. As a result, Belle made the decision to confide in her cousin Charity about her experience.
The next morning, Belle admitted that she felt better having finally told someone, but she wasn’t ready for Cain to find out.
Charity was quick to persuade her to let her big brother in on the secret, and with Belle worried that Cain would lash out, promised to tell him herself.
Later, Charity headed to the Woolpack to find Cain, but she soon ran into Tom instead. The pair shared a tense conversation, before Charity revealed to Cain that they needed to talk, and Tom couldn’t know about it.
Over at Butler’s farm, Charity revealed all about Belle’s abuse, and Cain was understandably furious with Tom.
However, Charity insisted that he couldn’t fly off the handle, and begged him not to make things worse for Belle by confronting Tom.
As they continued to discuss the situation, Cain stormed out, leaving Charity terrified that he was set to go against his word and leave Belle in a dangerous position.
Thankfully, Cain took unexpected action, and instead paid Belle herself a visit.
As he wrapped her up in a hug, he told her that he loved and believed her, much to Charity’s relief.
Later, he asked Belle to come to him if she had any problems, and promised her that they would support her in going to the police as soon as she felt ready.
As he left, Tom was passing by, and Cain showed huge restraint in ignoring him completely, but will he be able to stick to his word and keep away from Tom?
