A prominent star’s shocking departure from EastEnders has been revealed, and their last scenes have already been recorded.
The BBC soap opera said that Matt Di Angelo will be departing the program after the suspenseful verdict in his character Dean Wicks’ murder trial, whereby he was falsely charged with Keanu Taylor’s murder.
Although spectators will have to wait to witness the trial’s conclusion, it was confirmed in an Instagram post that Matt will be saying farewell to Albert Square.
The post read: ‘Farewell to the marvellous Matt Di Angelo AKA devious Dean Wicks. From all the cast and crew at #EastEnders… thank you, you’ll be missed!’
Meanwhile, in an accompanying video, EastEnders’ Executive producer Chris Clenshaw wished Matt well as he paid tribute to the actor.

The video also saw Matt clutching his final script as he told the camera: ‘This is it. Dean’s final scenes. Shot, sealed, delivered… it is done!’
After the video saw a glimpse of Dean being dragged to his cell as Linda walked past, it then cut to Matt – who first joined the soap in 2006 -giving a farewell speech to his colleagues.
He said: ‘I really, really appreciate all your work. They’re long days and you’re a class bunch, you really are. So, thank you for helping me and I appreciate it. Thanks very much.’
Turning to the camera once more, he added: ‘It is done. He is no more. “Good riddance!”, you all say.
‘He’s fun to play and this is an amazing place to work and I do genuinely love everyone here. Thank you for having me and until the next time?! Bye!’
Over the past week, the dramatic trial has been played out on screens, with the outlook for Dean looking increasingly dire as The Six took to the stand to share their testimonies.
As he was grilled by prosecutors, Dean finally confessed to raping Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), causing the case to be named a mistrial in light of the new evidence.

Long-time soap fans will know that Dean sexually assaulted Linda in her kitchen back in 2014 and has spent years denying his crime.
While he even manipulated the mum into stating that he didn’t attack her, after he blackmailed her earlier this year.
However, things took an unexpected twist as Linda, weighed down by her guilt, later admitted to killing Keanu (Danny Walters).
After speaking to The Six and almost succumbing to alcohol before being comforted by Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Linda kissed her children goodbye as she headed to the police station.
