In his most recent onscreen role, the star of a famous EastEnders villain appeared unrecognizable.

Alex Ferns starred in the BBC soap in the early 2000s, portraying the part of Trevor Morgan.

Trevor was the abusive husband to Little Mo Slater (Kacey Ainsworth), with the character ultimately being killed off in 2002.

Meanwhile, actor Alex was back on screens recently for new BBC drama Nightsleeper, looking much different to his Walford days.

Viewers started to make the connection, as one asked on X: “Isn’t that evil Trevor from EastEnders?”

Another replied: “That’s him. It was bugging me.”

A third commented: “Good to see Trevor from EastEnders on this.”

Six-part drama Nightsleeper follows passengers on a sleeper train from Glasgow to London in the aftermath of a hijacking.

One of the passengers is off-duty police officer Joe Roag, portrayed by Peaky Blinders star Joe Cole.

As for Alex, he appears as a passenger by the name of Arran Moy.

During the actor’s time in EastEnders, his character Trevor became one of the show’s most despised villains.

Infamous for abusing Little Mo, she later retaliated by hitting him with an iron, as a means to protect herself.

Trevor died in November 2002, following dramatic scenes which saw him hold Little Mo and his baby son Sean hostage in a house fire.

Neighbour Tom Banks (Colm Ó Maonlaí) successfully rescued Little Mo and the baby from the blaze.

Tragically, he was killed along with villainous Trevor when the house exploded.

Since his time in Walford, Alex has since appeared in several other projects.

He has featured in episodes of Chernobyl, Vera and had a longer-term role in River City.

For his role in Chernobyl, Alex received a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor in Television.

He also appeared in 2015 film Legend, starring Tom Hardy as the Kray twins.

Another movie role saw Alex make a supporting appearance in 2022’s The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as the title character.
