Coronation Street actress Lisa George has shared her excitement after trying out something for the first time since quitting the ITV soap after 13 years

Former  Coronation Street star Lisa George is all smiles as she embarks on a new chapter after bidding farewell to the hit ITV soap. Best known for her 13-year tenure as the beloved Beth Tinker, Lisa’s memorable stint came to an end with emotional scenes that aired in September when she took the decision to exit the role.

Now embracing life beyond the cobbles, Lisa, aged 51, took to Instagram Stories to share a jubilant snap from a park, boasting about completing her maiden Parkrun. Grinning ear-to-ear and without a stitch of makeup, she donned a casual black tee with her blonde hair neatly pulled back, captioning: “2 weeks training… First park run ever! ! ! 5k.”

Parkruns have become a global phenomenon, offering weekly 5k running events in various parks worldwide a perfect opportunity for runners like Lisa to keep their fitness trackable and social. These Saturday morning runs span across over 2,000 locations globally.

The fitness milestone update comes in the wake of Lisa’s departure from Coronation Street, where her character Beth left viewers heartbroken as she left a bemused Kirk (portrayed by Andy Whyment) reeling after his botched proposal. The soap drama escalated as audiences learned Beth was being pushed out due to the vindictive dealings of crooked copper Kit Green, who is blackmailing her.

He’s threatened to wreck her son Craig’s police career if she doesn’t complyan ultimatum Beth finds herself reluctantly giving in to after her own efforts to control the situation spiral disastrously, reports the Mirror.

In the plot, Kirk had just proposed to Beth for the second time, after finding out years ago that she’d committed bigamy when they first got married in 2015. However, Kirk was left heartbroken as she pretended to leave for a new job at a factory in Norwich.

Lisa confessed that she shed genuine tears while filming these exit scenes. She expressed: “It was so hard. I was really sad filming it myself because it was gorgeous, and you see in that scene it was heartbreaking, because it was everything that she wanted. It was awful.

She broke his heart, and even when she left he was saying, ‘I’ll change, I’ll change whatever you want’, believing it was his fault.”

Lisa went on to say: “I got a right lump in my throat when we filmed it, because it actually felt really real when she said ‘you know, you haven’t done anything wrong. You don’t need to change. You’re always perfect to me’.”
