The acts of her son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) in EastEnders the next week will leave Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) horrified as the soap opera’s narrative of child-to-parent abuse intensifies.

The mother and son will play a major role in the intense storyline, which was just revealed. Tommy will use Kat’s unwavering love for him as leverage to get what he wants and to assert control.

When he struck Kat in the stomach in August after she refused to reconcile with her estranged husband Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), fans were horrified to witness the incident. After Kat pushed him away in self-defense, he subsequently reported her to social services.

Sadly for Kat, things take another dark turn in next week’s episodes after her ex-husband and Tommy’s adopted dad Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) lands a new job as the manager of the Minute Mart.

With the family facing money problems, Tommy misguidedly plans to steal from the café but Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) catches him in the act.

Kathy goes to see Kat, telling her she needs to have a stern word with her son. But when Kat tries to talk to Tommy, he physically intimidates her.

Later in the week, the Mitchells gather to celebrate Jay Brown’s (Jamie Borthwick) 30th birthday, where he shows Kat and Phil a video message from his late wife Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) but Tommy ruins the mood.

When Kat asks Tommy to stop making such a racket, Phil is stunned when Tommy is viciously rude to his mother.

Things go from bad to worse when Tommy tries to leave, and Kat grabs him…

Will Phil step in to help his ex and save her from her abusive son?
