Favorite Emmerdale character David Metcalfe originally settled in the community back in 2006, however it has been reported that actor Matthew Wolfenden will soon wrap up his run on the ITV soap opera.

According to Matthew Wolfenden, David Metcalfe won’t be murdered off the ITV soap opera Emmerdale.

On Thursday’s This Morning, the actor detailed his exit narrative and revealed David’s fate.

After a montage of David’s character over the years, anchor Holly Willoughby remarked, “David Metcalfe joins us now!”

Craig Doyle, the co-host, said, “Uh oh, he’s gone!” as the actor showed signs of emotion.

“I’ll tell you why, hasn’t it been a while?” Holly clarified

Then she said, “That’s why. 2006! He also has a wide variety of hairstyles and ladies. How will you feel about it?

Oh my God, I’m so anxious to leave. But, well, over two decades, he said, “nearly 20 years.”

“So it feels like the right time,” you say. As Holly said.

“It feels like the right time, yeah, the door’s left open, they’re not killing me off,” he admitted.

The man said, “I’ve been promised.”

“Oh, you’re allowed to tell us that, aren’t you?” Craig enquired.

Matthew said, “I’m allowed to tell you that.”

In 2006, Matthew made his Emmerdale debut. Since then, he has appeared in several dramatic plotlines.

Fans have witnessed his character’s struggle with testicular cancer throughout the course of his 17-year career, as well as other romantic dramas along the road as he avoided being killed by the village murderer.

Matthew could eventually return to his Emmerdale role thanks to his exit, just like many other soap opera stars do when a door is left open for them.

Fans of the character will undoubtedly be happy that David won’t meet a fatal end.

Even Matthew’s wife, Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle on the soap opera, was introduced to him through the role of David.

He told Holly and Craig about this after reflecting on it, saying, “You know what, I met my wife on the show, and we’ve had three kids.

It has provided me a family as well as 18 years of an excellent profession.
