The epic drama that culminated with Victor’s death on GENERAL HOSPITAL involved a supervillain who tried to save the world by eradicating half of its people, and the good guys who tracked him down to Greenland and stopped him at all costs. The Haunted Star and everyone on board were destroyed when the WBS ordered a drone strike, and the Cassadine went out with a boom.

The actor Charles Shaughnessy’s actual departure from the soap opera where he had been portraying Victor since September 2021, though, wasn’t quite as dramatic. “It was a bit strange because I sort of finished the day we did the scenes of dead Victor in the body bag, which was just before we had a two-week break [in production],” he admitted to Soap Opera Digest. But that wasn’t really my farewell because I knew I would return to kill Victor after hearing him read his will. That’s why everyone kept asking, ‘Is this your last day?'” he explained. ‘Well, actually, I’m coming back after the break,’ I said. Ah, good. We’ll say farewell then, then.”

But in Port Charles, being dead doesn’t mean you’re gone forever, as seen by Constance Towers’ most recent appearance as Helena Cassadine in the same plot! Shaughnessy says, “I expect I’ll be seeing everyone again before too long.”
