Coronation Street’s Beth Tinker, played by Lisa George, said her goodbyes to the soap this week.

Coronation Street’s Lisa George has shared her sadness over her soap exit – while fans have been left fuming.

Beth, played by Lisa, first burst into the cobbles in 2011. Known for her nosy attitude and outspoken behaviour, it didn’t take long for Beth to become a favourite with viewers.

The factory worker has also played a part in several big storylines, from the tragic death of niece Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) to her own relationship with Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment).

However, this week, Beth said her goodbyes to the cobbles after 13 years, and according to actress Lisa, she was overcome with emotion halfway through her final scene.

Soap favourite Beth was forced out of Weatherfield by bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) after she attempted to play him at his own game.

Beth had caught Kit in cahoots with troublemaker Sid – who has been flogging counterfeit goods. In a bid to get evidence and blackmail him, Beth filmed their interaction and threatened Kit – leaving him raging.

However, after Beth’s son Craig (Colson Smith) confessed to Kit about the cover-up of Faye Windass and Emma Brooker’s hit and run in 2021, Kit used this to his advantage.

Taking things one step further, Kit then demanded Beth to leave Weatherfield, or he would tell the police about Craig’s cover-up.

And during Friday’s emotional episode (August 30) Beth said her emotional goodbyes, and as expected, when shooting her final scene Lisa was emotional

Talking about filming her final scene on the cobbles, Lisa said: “Unusually Beth’s departure was my final scene of filming, often we film out of order but as I filmed it I knew Beth was leaving and it was my final scene on the cobbles.

“Halfway through when he called the cab to stop, and they got out I actually got really, quite tearful. I cried afterwards because it’s been this huge part of my life for such a long time,” she added

Meanwhile, it’s fair to say Beth’s “rushed” exit left plenty of viewers riled up. Due to her exit airing within the first fifteen minutes minutes, fans were fuming.

On X, one person said: “Is that it for Beth? Thirteen years on the street and just gone in the first ad break? Deserved more.”

Someone else added: “Having Bertie and Daniel in Roy’s Rolls one minute and then waving Beth off in the Street the next was as quick and rushed as Beth’s exit storyline.” A third penned: “Beth’s exit is one of the weirdest things they’ve ever done.”
