Coronation Street is facing even more criticism following Kevin and Abi’s deep-fake drama. DS Swain has been crowned ‘Worst detective in Soapland’ and fans are frustrated.

Coronation Street: Abi wanted justice over Stefan deep-fakes
After a deepfake video began to torment Kevin’s every waking hour, he and Abi went through a lot. Abi realized that Corey had to be responsible for the tapes when she learned that Stefan Brent was trying to write a nice magazine piece about him.
Rightfully so, Corey is incarcerated for the death of Abi’s son Seb. Last night, on Wednesday, June 19, Abi finally met Stefan in person.
After reporting him, Abi went to the police station, where she was unimpressed to learn that DS Swain had released Stefan since there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute him.
After taking matters into her own hands and confronting Stefan about the videos, Abi was eventually compelled to leave his office when security intervened.
DS disaster?
After informing the police about Stefan, Abi and Kevin felt relieved. But before letting Stefan leave, DS Swain looked through his phone and other electronics.
The logic? Neither a reason nor insufficient proof existed to warrant Stefan’s detention.
Naturally, supporters didn’t take long to vent their annoyance at DS Swain and her disregard for this case of deepfake evidence.
“That DS Swain has got to be the laziest & inept detective in Soapland,” a viewer commented on X.
Another person voiced their displeasure, saying, “Bethany will win for you, Abi. The worst detective in Soapland is DS Swain. “Where’s Keeble when u need her?” was a reference to the detective in EastEnders.
Another observer said, “DS Swain is a worthless cop.” Roy was imprisoned by her without any proof. Though he wasn’t there and there wasn’t a body, there is more proof that Stefan is complicit in Abi’s deepfakes, and she allows it to continue. This is another example of the ridiculous policing in soap operas.
