Coronation Street fans couldn’t quite believe just how grown up the Winter-Brown quadruplets are looking as they prepared to attend primary school.

Coronation Street fans couldn’t get over the ages of four characters as they returned to the ITV soap looking unrecognisable.

The Winter-Brown quadruplets appeared on the scene during Monday’s episode (September 2), rushing into Billy and Paul’s flat in their brand new school uniforms – prepared to start primary school for the first time.

Comprised of Carys, Bryn, Aled and Llio, the quads were born to Gemma and Chesney in October 2019.

Appearing alongside their older brother Joseph Brown in the scenes – and taking a sweet family snap alongside their mum, gran and uncle – the quads looked all grown up, and totally different to when they were last seen on-screen.

The characters are currently four years old, and will turn five in October.

They’ve been played by various actors over the years, with twins Charlotte and James Holt initially portraying them alongside triplets Arthur, Lily and Lucy Taylor. Aled, meanwhile, has been played by Harry and Harvey Thompson. Joseph Woods took over the role of Aled – who was born deaf – in 2021.

Fans were busy turning to X – formerly Twitter – to express their confusion over their ages, with one writing: “How are the quads school age already? Where did the last four years go?”

Another chimed in: “I’d forgotten the quads existed tbh! Where did they go?” And a third fan said: “Aww the quads look so cute!” Somebody else joked: “The quads having their annual sighting on their first day at school.”

And another viewer said: “It’s the quads’ first day of primary school!”

The twins were born in Llandudno and were given Welsh names in tribute – after Gemma went into labour in a cable car. Aled was named after singer Aled Jones, while the rest of the babies were named after the paramedics that helped with the birth.

In emotional scenes, Paul begged Billy: “Going to miss them kids. Don’t let them forget me. Please?”

Billy promised his husband: “I won’t.”
