Fans of Coronation Street believe they have figured out when Joel Deering will depart the ITV soap opera after hearing that actor Calum Lil is quitting after just a single year.
Fans of Coronation Street think they know when Calum Lill’s character Joel Deering will leave the ITV soap opera. This comes as rumors surfaced that actor Calum Lil would be leaving the show after just a single year.
The audience is already aware of Joel’s aggressive and deceptive behavior with young females, including his attempted murder of Cait Fitton’s character, Lauren Bolton. As he drugged Lauren in an attempt to end her pregnancy, the audience looked on. But when she went into early labor and the baby lived, his plan backfired.
It has been revealed that Joel’s downfall is imminent as his fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey, played by Channique Sterling-Brown, starts to question his lies and discovers that Joel is the father of baby Frankie. With news of Calum’s departure from his role as Joel, fans think that Joel will leave Weatherfield during the soap’s “super soap week”, typically held in October.
One fan took to Reddit to express their thoughts: “Boy have they dragged this out…. It feels like the Lauren/Joel storyline has gone on for more than half a year. It looks like things are unravelling a bit now but I still think it’ll be dragged out even further until super soap week (first week of Oct). What do you think? Will it go on for much longer? “.
Another Reddit user responded: “I sure hope so! ! I’m hoping they don’t cook up another diversion, and another and another so that it drags for another 3 months.”
An individual posted on X, previously known as Twitter: “I believe during the #SuperSoapWeek the Joel storyline comes to a conclusion in October, but it could change as #Corrie recently had a change of personnel so storylines might be continued further! Just watched this space John!”
Calum, who has been rumoured to be leaving the soap, shared his feelings about his potential departure: “I think it’s bittersweet for me,” he said to journalists. “As an actor, it’s getting more and more juicy, but as soon as this comes to a climax, I leave this incredible place filled with so many people I’ve come to know and love and been some of my best friends over the last 18 months.”
“I’m very excited to get to the end of the story, but it will be very bittersweet because it’s the most incredible place to work.” In a new venture, Calum is set to take on the role of the nefarious Fleshcreep in the upcoming pantomime Jack and Beanstalk, which will run from December 2024 to January 2025.
